Senior Katie Howery finished second overall at the Jack’s Run on Saturday, covering the 5-kilometer Les Bolstad Course in a time of 19 minutes, 34.0 seconds. Wining the women’s title in the run, open to the public, was former Golden Gopher All-American Emily Brown (17:47.3).

Jack’s Run was contested for the second year. The run honors longtime Gopher equipment manager Jack Johnson, who passed away in February of 2006 after a battle with cancer. Proceeds from the run support the Jack Johnson Endowed Scholarship, as well as the Angel Foundation.

Freshman Laura Koch was the second Gopher finisher, placing fifth in a time of 20:02.7. Jaclyn Edmonds was sixth in 20:04.0.

Minnesota rested its top runners in preparation for next weekend’s (Oct. 28) Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
