Gophers Set for Wisconsin adidas, Tori Neubauer Races
Laura Docherty and the Gophers will face a test in Madison.

Oct. 11, 2012

The Golden Gophers will split the squad this weekend, with the top runners competing at Wisconsin and the second group competing at UW-La Crosse.

Wisconsin adidas Invitational
When: Friday, Oct. 12 at 12 p.m.
Where: Thomas Zimmer Championship Course (Madison, Wis.)
Distance: 6,000 meters

No. 27 Minnesota is part of a competitive 49-team field at the Wisconsin adidas meet. That list of teams features 20 of the top 30 in this week’s USTFCCCA poll, plus an additional five teams that received votes. Besides the Gophers, No. 5 Iowa State and No. 22 Oklahoma State will represent the Midwest Region. The top four teams from this year’s Griak Invitational—Iowa State, Weber State, Minnesota, and UConn—will all compete this weekend.

The meet will give the Gophers a chance to see where they match up with some of the country’s best teams at this point in the season. It will also be important in determining which Gophers will make the Big Ten Championships roster.

Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational
When: Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11:30 a.m.
Where: Maple Grove Country Club (West Salem, Wis.)
Distance: 6,000 meters

The UW-La Crosse meet is one the Gophers have been to many times before. The men’s Jim Drews race and the women’s Tori Neubauer race are named after former UW-La Crosse national champions. The Gophers finished second at last year’s meet.
