cMinnesota freshman Gabriele Anderson won the individual title in leading the Golden Gophers to their second consecutive team title at the Minnesota-Duluth Pine Hills Invitational in Carlton, Minn., on Saturday. The Gophers finished with eight of the top nine placewinners in tallying a near-perfect team score of 18 points.

Anderson, a Perham, Minn. native, captured her first collegiate medalist honor, covering the 6-kilometer course in a time of 22 minutes, 37 seconds. Senior Annie Wells was second with a time of 22:42.

Other scoring Gophers were Stacia Kalinoski in fourth with a time of 23:06, Paula Hoffert in fifth in 23:09 and Amy Lindner in sixth in 23:22.

The Golden Gophers rested their top runners in preparation for next weekend's Pre-NCAA Meet on Oct. 16 in Terre Haute, Ind., the site of the 2004 NCAA Championships.
