Minnesota Ranks No. 22 in USTFCCCA Poll

NEW ORLEANS - The University of Minnesota women's cross country program is ranked No. 22 in this week's USTFCCCA NCAA Division I National Coaches' Poll.
No. 1 Providence and No. 2 Florida State maintained their places at the top of the poll, followed by No. 3 Arizona, No. 4 Washington and No. 5 Georgetown to complete the top five.
No. 9 Michigan State, No. 14 Michigan and No. 27 Penn State are the only other Big Ten Conference teams ranked in the top 30 this week.
In this week's USTFCCCA Division I Regional Rankings, the Gophers remained the second-ranked Midwest Region squad. National No. 19 Oklahoma State maintained the top regional spot, followed by the Gophers, Iowa State, Tulsa and Bradley in the top five.
The Golden Gophers won two meets last weekend, posting a perfect team score at the SDSU Classic 5K and defeating 25 teams at the Blugold Invitational.
Junior Molly Kayfes and seniors Maggie Bollig, Laura Docherty and Katie Moraczewski led the Gophers at the SDSU Classic, claiming the top four places within a seven-second span. Kayfes crossed the line in 17:29.01, followed by Bollig in 17:30.21. Docherty finished in 17:34.83 with Moraczewski on her heels in 17:35.29.
Meanwhile, at the Blugold Invitational, redshirt freshmen Haley Johnson and Taylor Mikkalson placed fourth and sixth, respectively, to lead the Gophers to a first-place finish. Minnesota posted a team score of 44 led by Johnson's career-best outing.
Up next for Minnesota is the Wisconsin adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis., and the Tori Neubauer Invite in La Crosse, Wis., both on Saturday, Oct. 19.
