The Minnesota women’s cross country team placed third at the Minnesota-Duluth Pine Hills Invitational on Saturday, in Carlton, Minn. The Golden Gophers, ranked No. 4 nationally, rested its top runners in preparation for the Pre-NCAA Meet next weekend.
The Gophers tallied 77 team points and were paced by freshman AnneMarie Boyd. Boyd finished 12th and covered the 6-kilometer course in a time of 24 minutes, 40.5 seconds. Rebekah Yetzer (24.44.4), Becca Tollefson (24:44.8) and Bridget Bachman (24:46.2) sprung together 15th, 16th, and 17th place finishes, respectively. Completing the scoring for the Gophers was Brittany Laughlin in 22nd place in 25:03.3.
Minnesota will compete in two meets next weekend (Oct. 13). The top Gopher runners will compete in the Pre-NCAA Meet, run the NCAA Championships course in Terre Haute, Ind. An additional Gopher squad will travel to the Tori Neubauer Invitational in West Salem, Wis.
