The University of Minnesota men's and women's cross country teams have announced their schedules for the 2011 season.
The men's team has nine meets on the schedule, including the Badger Invitational, Big 10 Championships and the NCAA Midwest Regional. The women are scheduled to run in 11 events, including the Duluth Inivitational and Wisconsin Invitational, which both will host a very talented field.
Both schedules are highlighted by the 26th Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 24 at the Les Bolstad Golf Course. The 2010 Griak Invitational was the largest in invitational history as it featured 377 teams and 3,777 runners.
The Golden Gophers will open the 2011 campaign on Sept. at home as they host the Oz Memorial.
The Gophers runners will look to contend for Big 10 title this season as both squads finished in third place. Minnesota will travel to Champaign, Ill., for the Big 10 Championships this year.
The Maroon and Gold will look to improve on their 27th place finish from a year ago at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships, which are scheduled for Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
