Minnesota is among the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association’s All-Academic Cross Country Team honorees. The Golden Gophers boasted the second-highest GPA among Big Ten cross country squads, checking in at 3.471. In order to qualify for this award, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better and start at least five runners at its regional championship meet.
Individually, three Gopher runners earned USTFCCCA All-Academic status. Ashlie Decker, Laura Docherty and Molly Kayfes qualified for the award by holding cumulative GPAs of 3.25 or better and finishing in the top 10 percent at the Midwest Regional.
In December, 19 Gophers were named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team. Minnesota cross country and track and field have consistently been among the school’s top performing teams in the classroom.
