Three Gophers earned All-Big Ten honors at the Big Ten Conference Championship Sunday
Minnesota placed second in the team standings behind Madeline Strandemo's individual runner-up finish at the Big Ten Championship
2017 • Sophomore Season: Named All-Midwest Region and All-Big Ten First Team • ran seven races • ended the season ranked fourth on Minnesota’s all-time top-50 6K performers list (20:16.0) • placed among the top three Gophers at all seven meets, including leading the team at the NCAA Midwest Regional • ran a career-best 6K time of 20:16.0 as the second Gopher in 23rd overall at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invite • ran a career-best 5K time of 16:48.81 as the third Gopher in eighth overall at the Greater Louisville Classic • finished second on the team and 74th overall at the NCAA Championship (20:31.01) • led Minnesota and placed fifth overall at the NCAA Midwest Regional (20:18.76) • finished second on the team in fifth place overall at the Big Ten Championship (20:23.5).
2016 • Freshman Season: Named All-Midwest Region, All-Big Ten Second Team, and USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree • ran in six meets this season, finishing among the top three Gophers at all six meets • recorded a career-best 6K time of 20:27.7 at the NCAA Midwest Regional, finishing ninth overall and second on the team to earn all-region honors • earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors after placing 11th overall as the second Gopher in 21:24.9 at the B1G Championship • ran a career-best 5K time of 17:01.5 to place 42nd overall and third on the team at the Notre Dame Invitational • led the Gophers in 28th place overall at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational (20:44.0) • finished the season with the fastest 6K time ever by a Gophers freshman (20:27.7) • ended the season ranked 10th on Minnesota’s all-time top-50 6K performers list (20:27.7).
High School: A 2016 graduate of Alexandria Area High School where she ran for coaches Mark Nelson, Travis Hochhalter, and Meghan Orgeman-Crumb • five-time letterwinner in cross country and six-time letterwinner in track & field • five-time all-state and All-Central Lakes Conference honoree in cross country • earned four top-six finishes at the Minnesota Class AA State Cross Country Championship, placing second as a senior (17:39 for 5K), first as a junior (13:40 for 4K), second as a sophomore (14:13 for 4K), and sixth as a freshman (14:14 for 4K) • Central Lakes Conference champion in 2013 and 2014 • earned All-American honors at 2014 Nike Cross Nationals, finishing fifth in 17:40 • named Minnesota Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year • owns high school cross country personal bests of 13:40 for 4K (2014) and 17:17 for 5K (2014) • on the track, was a three-time All-Central Lakes Conference honoree (2012, 2013, 2016), two-time 3,200m conference champion (2013, 2016), and two-time all-state honoree (2014, 2016) • five-time Minnesota Class AA State Track & Field Championship qualifier, finishing as runner-up in both the 3,200m (10:36) and 1,600m (4:49) as a senior to help lead Alexandria to the 2016 state title • finished as Minnesota Class AA state runner-up in the 1,600m run (4:53.36) and took fourth in the 3,200m run (10:32.75) as a sophomore in 2014 • placed 11th in the 3,200m run (10:58) as a freshman at the state meet • battled injuries during her junior year • owns high school track & field personal bests of 10:32 for 3,200m (2015), 4:49 for 1,600m (2016), 4:29 for 1,500m (2016), and 2:15 for 800m (2015) • has held Alexandria program records for 4K in cross country and 1,600m on the track.
Personal: Born September 9, 1997 • daughter of Doug and Nancy Hasz • has a twin sister, Bethany, and an older sister Kelsey • intends to major in kinesiology • enjoys baking and reading • high school teammates with former Gopher Jamie Piepenburg • earned a 4.0 grade point average in high school.
