Kelli Budd enters her first season as a volunteer assistant coach in 2014-15, after competing for the Gophers from 2009-13. Budd will remain with the Gophers in a coaching role following a breakthrough senior season wearing the Maroon and Gold.
As a cross country senior in 2013, Budd competed at the NCAA championship and Midwest Regional meets after serving as an alternate in 2012. She helped the Gophers to a third-place team finish at the 2013 Big Ten Championship with an 18th place individual showing as Minnesota's fourth runner in 21:31.6. Budd wrapped up her cross country career as a two-time letterwinner.
On the track, Budd holds Minnesota's fourth-best all-time mark in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:14.53) and ranks eighth all-time in the outdoor 5,000m (16:28.59) and ninth all-time in the indoor 5,000m (16:36.68). As a senior, she finished fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase and sixth in the 5,000m at the Big Ten Championships. Budd also placed 13th in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:16.79) at the 2014 NCAA West Prelims, narrowly missing advancing to the national championship. During her career, she was a three-time academic All-Big Ten honoree as well.
The former Gopher received her bachelor's degree in accounting with a minor in psychology in May 2014.
