The Big Ten Conference has announced that senior opposite hitter Katherine Harms (Albertville, Minn.) and junior middle blocker Tori Dixon were named unanimous All-Big Ten honorees. Junior outside hitter and team captain Ashley Wittman (Shakopee, Minn.) was an honorable mention, while Daly Santana (Corozal, Puerto Rico) was a unanimous selection on the Freshman All-Big Ten team. It marks the first-ever conference award for Harms, while Dixon was an All-Big Ten selection last year and an honorable mention as a freshman.

Harms saved her best season for her last as she leads the team in kills (458), kills per set (4.13) and points (536.5). A six-rotation player, Harms also ranks second on the team in digs (275) and aces (36). Harms finished the regular season ranked sixth in the Big Ten in kills (4.13), third in points per set (4.83), 10th in hitting percentage (.324) and fifth in aces. Harms bettered her junior numbers from 305 kills to 458 this season and can add to those numbers as the Gophers compete in the NCAA Tournament this weekend. She amassed her 1,000th career kill in the regular season finale against Indiana last weekend. Entering the NCAA postseason, Harms has 1,013 career kills and 615 career digs. Having a standout season, she entered the year with 555 career kills and 340 digs. Having never earned weekly conference awards, Harms snagged three Big Ten Player of the Week honors this year.

Dixon continues her dominance against opponents as she finished the Big Ten Conference and regular season hitting .444. That hitting percentage is the third-best nationally and tops the Big Ten Conference. In just 624 swings, Dixon has 343 kills, 66 errors to average 3.09 kills per set. She opened her junior campaign hitting a stifling .875 this year and since then has hit over .500 in 14 matches this year. In league games alone, she has hit .420, which only rivals teammate Dana Knudsen in the conference. A Preseason All-Big Ten, Dixon was a three-time honoree of the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Week. Against Penn State earlier this year, she accomplished a season-best 11 blocks as she averages 1.03 per set. In 111 sets played, Dixon also ranks third on the team in aces (29) and has 75 digs and already produced 439.0 points this season.

Wittman was named a team captain last spring and has led the Gophers throughout the 2012 campaign. A Preseason All-Big Ten, Wittman ranks third on the team with 308 kills to average 2.80 kills per set. A six-rotation player, Wittman leads the Gopher back row with 308 digs this season to average 2.80 digs per set. Wittman is the only current Gopher to establish over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career. She enters the NCAA tournament with 1,306 career kills and 1,043 career digs. Serving up 13 aces, she also averages 0.44 blocks per set.

Santana earned a spot on the All-Freshman team after having a standout rookie year. At the age of 17, Santana ranks third in the conference with 54 aces. Producing 0.49 aces per set, she ranks seventh nationally in the category. A six-rotation player, Santana ranks third on the team in digs (274) and fourth in kills (256). Averaging 2.31 kills per set, Santana has provided the Gophers with 330 points this season. Named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice this year, Santana set a career-high 17 kills and 46 attempts in the win over Nebraska (11/16). She also had seven aces in the home-opening weekend against Miami (OH) and provided a career-best 20 digs against Michigan State.
