The Minnesota volleyball team moved up three spots to No. 12 in the Bison Inc./AVCA Top 25 poll, which was released on Monday, Nov. 17. The Golden Gophers received 773 points in this week’s poll.
It marks the eighth time Minnesota has been in the top 12 this year, and the 11th time it has been the second highest ranked Big Ten team in the poll this season. The Golden Gophers enter the week with an 8-4 record against ranked opposition. Minnesota’s 12 matches against ranked opposition are the second-most in the nation.
This past week the Golden Gophers won a pair of matches on the road, defeating Wisconsin in five sets and Northwestern in three.
Minnesota is among five Big Ten teams that were ranked in this week’s poll. Penn State is No. 1, Illinois is No. 16, Purdue is No. 18 and Michigan is No. 20. The Big Ten has the second most teams behind the Pac-10 in the top 25 with six.
The Golden Gophers will be in action against No. 20 Michigan on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m., and will also face Ohio State on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. Both matches can be seen live on the Gold Zone, and can be heard live on gophersports.com.
