The Minnesota volleyball team (19-7, 13-3) moved up one spot to No. 12 in the CSTV/AVCA poll on Nov. 13. Minnesota had 821 points, which was its highest total of the season, in this week’s poll.
Minnesota has now been ranked in 70 of the last 78 top 25 polls dating back to the 2002 season. The Golden Gophers have also been ranked the last seven weeks, moving back to No. 12 this week. Minnesota was also ranked No. 22 in this year’s preseason poll.
This past week Minnesota went 2-0, claiming a pair of three-game home victories against Illinois and Northwestern .
Entering the week, Minnesota sits in tie for second place in the Big Ten at 13-3 with No. 10 Wisconsin. Both teams trail No. 5 Penn State for first place by one match.
There were five Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25 this week. Penn State was the highest ranked team at No. 5, followed by No. 10 Wisconsin, No. 12 Minnesota, No. 19 Ohio State, and No. 23 Purdue.
Minnesota will travel to No. 10 Wisconsin to face the Badgers in a battle of the second place teams on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
