Click Here For Golden Gopher Volleyball Notes Minnesota returns home from a 0-2 road trip looking to get back on track in Big Ten play. The Golden Gophers will host Purdue on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. and Indiana on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. Both matches will be webcast on gophersports.com. This past week Minnesota dropped into a tie for second place with Wisconsin and Illinois after losing to Illinois in five games and Northwestern in three games. The three teams are tied for second place at 10-4, one match behind Penn State who is first at 11-3. Purdue enters the week with a 12-13 overall record and is 5-9 in Big Ten play. Indiana is 10-15 overall and 3-11 in conference play. Minnesota started Big Ten play 0-2 when it lost on the road in three games to the Hoosiers on Sept. 26 and in four games to Purdue on Sept. 27. The Golden Gophers rattled off 10 straight Big Ten victories after that, before losing two in a row on the road last weekend.
After dropping its first contest of the year to Kansas on Sept. 5, Minnesota has rebounded to win 11 straight home matches. The Golden Gophers longest home winning streak in school history is 12. That streak ran from Oct. 7, 2000 to Oct. 6, 2001. This season the Golden Gophers defeated Dayton and Marquette to finish the Nike Invitational on a winning note. Minnesota then won the Diet Coke Classic with victories over Colorado State, Charlotte and UW-Milwaukee. The Golden Gophers have also started out 6-0 in their Big Ten home matches with victories over Northwestern, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa and Wisconsin to move the home winning streak to 11 matches. In 12 home matches, Minnesota is outhitting its opponents .261 to .160, averaging 17.00 kpg to 13.41 kpg and 17.43 dpg to 15.09.
