Minnesota will travel to Michigan on Friday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. (CT) and Michigan State on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. (CT). The Golden Gophers enter the week in third place in the Big Ten at 11-3. Minnesota is one match behind Ohio State and Penn State, who are each tied for first place at 12-2. The Golden Gophers also have an overall record of 22-4. Michigan enters the week in sixth place in the Big Ten at 7-7, and is 17-8 overall. Michigan State is tied for seventh place at 5-9, and is 10-12 overall.

Minnesota is third in that nation in matches won against ranked opposition. The Golden Gophers trail only USC and Nebraska in victories against ranked opponents with seven. Nebraska leads the way with nine, while USC has eight victories against ranked opposition. Minnesota is 7-3, having played 10 ranked teams this season. The Golden Gophers are tied with Arizona for the fourth most matches against ranked opponents in the nation. California leads the way with 13, while USC has 12 and UCLA has 11. Minnesota has victories against No. 11 Colorado State, No. 15 Kansas State, No. 4 Florida, No. 20 Loyola Marymount, No. 4 Penn State, No. 23 Illinois and No. 7 Ohio State. The Golden Gophers have lost to No. 1 USC, No. 16 Ohio State and No. 6 Penn State.
