The Minnesota volleyball team is ranked No. 15 in the Bison Inc./AVCA Top 25 poll, which was released on Monday, Nov. 10. The Golden Gophers received 675 points in this week’s poll.
Minnesota has been ranked No. 15 or better in 10 of the 12 weeks of the poll this season, and have been the second highest ranked Big Ten team in the poll 10 times this season. The Golden Gophers enter the week with an 8-4 record against ranked opposition. The eight wins and 12 matches played against ranked opposition are both tied for the highest total in the nation.
This past week, Minnesota won in three sets over No. 18 Purdue on Nov. 7 and defeated No. 16 Illinois in five sets on Nov. 8.
Minnesota is among five Big Ten teams that were ranked in this week’s poll. Penn State is No. 1, Illinois is No. 17, Purdue is No. 18 and Michigan is No. 19. The Big Ten has the second most teams behind the Pac-10 in the top 25 with six.
The Golden Gophers will be back in action when they travel to Wisconsin on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. Minnesota will also face Northwestern on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
