Minnesota Volleyball Remains at No. 12 in CSTV/AVCA Poll

The Minnesota volleyball team (16-6, 10-2) remained at No. 12 in the CSTV/AVCA poll on Oct. 30. Minnesota added 32 points to its total moving up to 817 in this week’s poll.

It marked the second week in a row the Golden Gophers were ranked No. 12 in the poll. Minnesota has seen its total point total increase in the last eight weeks of the poll.

The Golden Gophers have now been ranked in 68 of the last 76 top 25 polls dating back to the 2002 season. Minnesota has also been ranked the last five weeks, staying at No. 12 this week. The Golden Gophers were also ranked No. 22 in this year’s preseason poll.

This past week Minnesota was 1-1, claming a three-game victory over No. 24 Ohio State at home and falling in five games to No. 2 Penn State. The Golden Gophers led 1-0 and 2-1 in that match against the Nittany Lions, before having their 12-match home winning streak snapped at the hands of Penn State.

Entering the week, Minnesota sits in sole possession of second place in the Big Ten at 10-2. The Golden Gophers are one match back of Penn State, and one match ahead of Wisconsin and Purdue.

There were five Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25 this week. Penn State was the highest ranked team at No. 3, followed by No. 10 Wisconsin, No. 12 Minnesota, No. 14 Purdue, No. 14 Wisconsin and No. 25 Ohio State.

Minnesota will travel to East Lansing, Mich. to face Michigan State on Friday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.(CT). The Golden Gophers will also face Michigan on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. (CT).
