forThe Minnesota volleyball team moved back into the USA Today/AVCA Top 25 poll, after a three-week absence, at No. 25 on Monday, Oct. 20. The Golden Gophers, who dropped out of the poll on Sept. 29 for the first time in 21 weeks, received 157 points.
Minnesota went 2-0 on the week finishing its four-match Big Ten road trip with a 4-0 record. That road trip included wins at Ohio State, No. 13 Penn State, No. 21 Wisconsin and Iowa. The Golden Gophers defeated Ohio State in five games on Friday, Oct. 17 and upset No. 13 Penn State in three games on the road.
Heading into the week, Minnesota has won six straight matches in Big Ten play and currently sits in a four-way tie for first place at 6-2. The Golden Gophers are tied with Penn State, Wisconsin and Illinois. Minnesota has defeated all three of those teams in Big Ten play this season.
Minnesota is one of four Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25. That list includes No. 15 Penn State, No. 22 Michigan State and No. 23 Wisconsin. Illinois is also second among teams receiving votes with 120 points.
The Golden Gophers have now been in the top 25 for 22 of the last 25 weeks of the poll.
Minnesota will return home to host Michigan on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. The Golden Gophers will then host No. 22 Michigan State on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
