beThe Minnesota volleyball team (13-2, 3-1) remained No. 9 in the USA Today/AVCA weekly poll, which was released on Monday, Oct. 3. Minnesota received 1,081 points in the poll.
Minnesota has now been ranked in the top 10 in the last 23 polls dating back to the final 2003 poll. The Golden Gophers have also been ranked in the top 25 for 31 straight weeks, which is the second-longest span in school history.
There were five Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25 this week. Penn State was the highest ranked team at No. 4, followed by No. 8 Wisconsin, Minnesota at No. 9, Ohio State at No. 18 and Purdue at No. 22..
Minnesota swept a pair of three-game matches against Michigan and Michigan State this past week to move to 3-1 in Big Ten play. It is the seventh time in 10 years that Minnesota has started 3-1 or better under Mike Hebert in conference play.
