The Minnesota volleyball team is moved up to No. 11 in the CSTV/AVCA Top 25 poll, which was released on Monday, Oct. 1. Minnesota received 899 points this week, which was up 69 from the week before.

Minnesota has been ranked in 79 of the last 86 polls dating back to 2002. The Golden Gophers have also ranked No. 12 or higher in 12 of the last 14 weeks dating back to the 2006 season.

This past week, Minnesota swept Iowa on the road and No. 11 Michigan at home to start Big Ten play 4-0 for a second straight season. The Golden Gophers have won 24 of their last 27 Big Ten contests dating back to the end of the 2005 season. They have also won their last 19 games in Big Ten play dating back to a game-three loss to Iowa on Nov. 18, 2006.

Minnesota was among four Big Ten teams that were ranked in this week’s poll. Penn State is No. 3, Wisconsin sits at No. 9 and Michigan is No. 16. The Big Ten has four of the top 16 teams in the top 25 in this week’s poll.

The Golden Gophers will head out for their first extended road trip when they face Ohio State in Columbus on Friday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. (CT). That match will be carried live on the Big Ten Network (DiRecTV Channel 220), and can be heard on gophersports.com.
