Dayton (9-4) defeated UConn (8-3) in four games by scores of 30-26, 27-30, 30-21, 30-25 in the Diet Coke Classic in the Sports Pavilion on Saturday, Sept. 16. With the win, the Flyers are now 2-0 in the Diet Coke Classic, while UConn is 0-2.

The Flyers were led by Faye Barhorst who hit .550 (22-0-4) with 22 kills and seven blocks in the match. Nicole Bateman also had 11 kills and 15 digs, while Jamie-Lee Richards had 13 kills for Dayton. Setter Erin Schroeder had 54 assists with nine digs, while Adrienne Green had 24 digs.

UConn was led by Sade Chambers who had 17 kills. Devon Farrell had 11 kills, 14 digs and five blocks for the Huskies, while Gina Heiderman had 11 kills and five digs. Kate Seabaugh also had 10 kills and 10 digs. Setter Bridget Denson-Dorman had 52 assists and 11 digs, while Jessica Isaac had a team-high 22 digs and three service aces.

Dayton outhit hit UConn .286 to .191, and had 67 kills to the Huskies' 62. The Flyers also outblocked UConn 13.0-to-8.0. The Huskies outdug Dayton 84-to-75, while UConn held a narrow advantage in service aces 8-to-7.
