ThClick Here For Golden Gopher Volleyball Notes
Minnesota volleyball team will wrap up its non-conference schedule with a busy week. The Golden Gophers will play No. 6 Northern Iowa (7-1) on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, Minn. Minnesota will return home to host the Diet Coke Classic on Sept. 19-20. The Golden Gophers will start on Friday, Sept. 19 when they play Colorado State (7-3) at 7:30 p.m. Minnesota will take on Charlotte (5-5) on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 12:30 p.m. The Golden Gophers will then wrap up the tournament against UW-Milwaukee (9-1) at 7:30 p.m. Northern Iowa enters the week with a 7-1 record after winning the Radisson Invitational at Western Michigan last week. The matches against Northern Iowa, Colorado State and UW-Milwaukee will all be webcast on gophersports.com. Minnesota enters the week with an 11-5 record against Northern Iowa, an 0-2 record against Colorado State, a 2-0 record against UW-Milwaukee and a 1-0 record against Charlotte.
Cassie Busse heads into the week nine kills short of 1,000 for her career. Busse tallied 18 kills this past week and is averaging 3.96 kpg this season. She had a season-high 19 kills in a five-game loss against Kansas on Sept. 5. Dating back to last season, Busse has recorded double-digit kills in 24 of the last 27 matches she has played. Busse would be the 14th player in school history to record 1,000 kills in a career.
