Sophomore middle blocker Lauren Gibbemeyer (St. Paul, Minn.) joined Purdue’s Stephanie Lynch as the Co-Big Ten Player of the Week for Sept. 15. Gibbemeyer claimed the award for the first time in her career.

Gibbemeyer is the second Golden Gopher player to claim Big Ten weekly honors this year. Tan won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors for Sept. 1. Gibbemeyer is the first middle blocker to claim the weekly honors since Meredith Nelson did so on Oct. 2, 2006.

Last week, Gibbemeyer averaged 3.20 kpg, 2.00 dps and 2.00 blps. She hit .450 (11-2-20) with 11 kills and eight blocks in a three-set victory over No. 4 California on Sept. 12. The next night, Gibbemeyer hit .345 (15-5-29) with 15 kills, seven blocks and five digs in a four-set victory over No. 16 Cal Poly. On Sept. 14, she tallied a career-high 12 digs in a three-set victory over Notre Dame.
