beeThe Minnesota volleyball team (6-1) remained at No. 5 in the USA Today/CSTV weekly poll, which was released on Monday, Sept. 12. Minnesota received 1,275 points in the poll.

Minnesota has now been ranked in the top five in 19 of last 20 polls dating back to the final poll of 2003.

The Golden Gophers were the second-highest ranked team of the four Big Teams that are in the poll. Penn State was the highest ranked team at No. 4 in the nation. After Minnesota at No. 5, is No. 13 Wisconsin and No. 14 Ohio State. Purdue and Illinois were also among teams receiving votes in the preseason poll.

Minnesota is 1-1 against ranked competition this year. The Golden Gophers lost to No. 1 Nebraska in five games at home on Sept. 5, and defeated No. 24 Kansas State on the road in four games on Sept. 10.
