The tournament will begin on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. when No. 4 Florida takes on No. 15 Kansas State. The Gators will then take on Northern Iowa on Friday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. Minnesota will play its first match against No. 15 Kansas State on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 11, Kansas State will play Northern Iowa at 4 p.m. Minnesota will play Florida on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. That match will be broadcast on CSTV on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. The Golden Gophers will wrap up the tournament on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. against Northern Iowa. This will be the latest that Minnesota has played its first home match since 2000 when it started on Sept. 15. The Golden Gophers enter the week with a 4-1 record. Florida is the only undefeated team in the tournament at 4-0. Northern Iowa and Kansas State are both 3-1.
Minnesota is 6-2 in home openers under head coach Mike Hebert. Hebert lost in his first home opener against Georgia Tech in 1996. From that point, the Golden Gophers had won their last six home openers under him until losing to Kansas last year. Minnesota defeated UW-Milwaukee in 1997's home opener, UW-Green Bay in 1998, Montana State in 1999, Tennessee in 2000, Marquette in 2001 and No. 8 Pepperdine in 2002.
