The Minnesota volleyball team had a fifth television match added to its slate, as its home match against Michigan State on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. will be telecast on a tape-delayed basis on ESPN 2. That match can be seen on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 12 p.m.
Minnesota is one of six Big Ten teams to have a match telecast on ESPN 2 this year. The Purdue-Michigan match on Oct. 10 and the Penn State-Wisconsin match on Oct. 24 will also be broadcast on ESPN 2.
The Golden Gophers will have four home matches and one road match televised this year. Four of the matches will be Big Ten contests, and one will be a non-conference matchup.
Minnesota will kick off its televised volleyball action on the Big Ten Network, as their non-conference matchup with Notre Dame will be televised live on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 2:30 p.m. That match will be the final one of the three-day Diet Coke Classic, which will also feature 2007 Final Four participant California and 2007 NCAA Regional Final participant Cal Poly.
The Golden Gophers’ first televised conference matchup will take place at home live on the Big Ten Network against defending national champion Penn State on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m.
Minnesota will also host Iowa live on the Big Ten Network on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. The Golden Gophers’ match against Michigan State on ESPN 2 on Oct. 17 will be their fourth televised match of the season. Minnesota’s final scheduled telecast will be on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. when the Golden Gophers travel to Ann Arbor to face Michigan.
Overall, Minnesota is scheduled to have five matches broadcast on television this season.
