Season tickets for the Minnesota volleyball team went on sale on Tuesday, July 15. Those season ticket prices are $96 for the public, $77 for University of Minnesota faculty (limit 2) and $48 for M Club members (limit 1).
Single-match tickets will go on sale Monday, July 21 at 9 a.m. Those tickets are $10 for chairbacks, $8 for adult general admission, $5 for under-18 or seniors and free for University of Minnesota students.
Minnesota opens the home schedule with the Diet Coke Classic when it welcomes 2007 Final Four participant California, 2007 NCAA Regional Semifinal participant Cal Poly and Notre Dame to the Sports Pavilion on Sept. 12-14. The Golden Gophers will also host the Gopher Invitational when they welcome North Carolina, TCU and Winthrop on Sept. 19-20.
Big Ten play will open up on Friday, Sept. 26 when Minnesota faces Northwestern at the Sports Pavilion at 7 p.m. The Golden Gophers will welcome 2007 NCAA Second Round participant Wisconsin to the Sports Pavilion for a “Border Battle” matchup on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
Minnesota will also host defending National Champion Penn State at Williams Arena in the fifth annual “Battle of the Barn” on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. The Golden Gophers’ final home regular-season match on 2008 will be against Ohio State on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.
Last year, Minnesota finished fourth in the nation in attendance at 3,316 fans per match during 16 home dates. It marked the fourth year in a row that the Golden Gophers finished fourth or higher in the nation in attendance.
Minnesota is coming off a season where it advanced to the NCAA Tournament for a ninth straight season. The Golden Gophers return eight letterwinners, including 2007 Honorable-Mention All-Region honoree Brook Dieter (Bloomington, Minn.) and 2007 Big Ten All-Freshman honoree Lauren Gibbemeyer (St. Paul, Minn.). Minnesota also returns seniors Rachel Hartmann (St. Charles, Ill.), Kyla Roehrig (Papillion, Neb.), Kelly Schmidt (Champaign, Ill.) and Katie Vatterrodt (Bloomington, Ill.).
The Golden Gophers’ recruiting class (freshman only) was also ranked No. 12 in the nation by prepvolleyball.com. Minnesota will also welcome two-time junior college All-American Pam Luiz (Limeira, Brazil) to the team as well.
