The Minnesota volleyball team will play in four tournaments for the spring schedule according to an announcement by head coach Mike Hebert.
The Golden Gophers will host Florida, Notre Dame and Washington State at Williams Arena on Saturday, Mar. 31 in their first tournament. Minnesota will face Washington State at 8:45 a.m., Notre Dame at 11:15 a.m. and Florida at 1:45 p.m. Florida will also face Notre Dame at 10:00 a.m., Washington State and the Gators will play at 12:30 p.m. and the Fighting Irish will face the Cougars in the final match of the tournament at 3 p.m.
Minnesota’s will then face Iowa State in a pair of matches at the Sports Pavilion on Saturday, Apr. 7. The two teams will play two games up to 30 points and one game to 15 at 11:30 a.m. and then play three games to 30 points and one to 15 at 2:30 p.m.
In their third tournament of the spring, the Golden Gophers will head to Ames, Iowa to face Iowa State, Northern Iowa and South Dakota State. Minnesota will face Northern Iowa at 11:00 a.m., South Dakota State at 12:10 p.m. and Iowa State at 2:10 p.m.
Minnesota will finish off the spring schedule at home on Saturday, Apr. 21. The Golden Gophers will face Montana State at 9:00 a.m. and South Dakota State at 12 p.m. in the early session of the tournament. Minnesota will return and face Montana State again at 1:00 p.m. and South Dakota State at 3:30 p.m. in the late session of the tournament. South Dakota State and Montana State will also play at 10:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. All morning matches will be the first two games to 30 and one game to 15. In the after, the teams will just play two games to 30 points.
The Golden Gophers have 10 letterwinners from last year’s team that advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals on the spring roster, including Honorable-Mention All-Big Ten honoree Jessy Jones (Naperville, Ill.)
