Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Assist U.S. National Women's Volleyball Team
BotMinnesota Volleyball Associate Head Coach Brian Heffernan and Assistant Coach David Boos have been selected to serve as coaching interns for the U.S. National Team by Head Coach Toshi Yoshida.
Both coaches will stay at the Olympic Training Center with the U.S. National Team from Jan. 30 to Feb. 14. Heffernan and Boos will assist in running drills during the practice sessions and attend daily meetings with U.S. National Team coaching staff, along with providing statistical and technical analysis as assigned.
"It is an honor to have two Golden Gopher coaches invited to work with the USA Volleyball program," said Minnesota Head Coach Mike Hebert. "They will return with an enriched knowledge of the game that can be applied to the Golden Gopher program."
Heffernan will be entering his fourth year with the Minnesota next season. In his previous three seasons with Minnesota, the Golden Gophers have advanced to the "Sweet Sixteen" twice, finished second in the Big Ten in 2000 and won their first Big Ten title in school history this past season.
Boos joined the staff in the summer of 2002, and in his first season Minnesota won a Big Ten Championship. Last season was his fourth in the Big Ten, after a three-year stint at Indiana as an assistant coach.
