USTFCCCA Program of the Year Standings

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota women's track & field and cross country program finished 12th in the nation in this year's NCAA Division I Women’s Program of the Year standings presented by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Gophers finished 19th at the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championship last fall, returning to the national meet as a team following a one-year hiatus. The Maroon & Gold then placed 14th at the NCAA Indoor Championship and wrapped up the season by tying for 56th at the NCAA Outdoor Championship.

Stanford was named the Terry Crawford Women’s Division I Program of the Year. The Cardinal finished runner-up at the end of the 2011-2012 and 2013-2014 academic years and broke a nine-year streak by Pac-12 rival Oregon. Behind Stanford, the top-five teams in this year's Program of the Year standings were Oregon, Georgia, Arkansas, and New Mexico.

Minnesota was one of three Big Ten Conference teams among the 15 women's programs nationwide in the running for the Program of the Year Award as Wisconsin led the B1G in eighth and Penn State placed 11th. The Program of the Year Award is presented annually by the USTFCCCA to those teams that qualify for and score points at all three national championships during the academic year.
