WHATS UP THIS WEEKEND?
This weekend the Minnesota women’s track and field team will head to Norte Dame, Ind., to compete in the 25th annual Meyo Invitaitonal. Action is set to get underway at 4:00 p.m. (CST) at the Loftus Sports Center. The two-day event will welcome 48 teams to the field.
Minnesota’s Rachel Melum and Melissa Flucke each tied for first in the high jump with a height of 1.65m (5-5) and in the 400m Jessica Waldvogel took second with a time of 57.81, Linnea Johnson was third after finishing in 58.21 and Leighton Lerum took fourth at 58.21.
The Gophers will next travel to Ames, IA to compete in the ISU Classic and others will stay local and compete at the St. Thomas Invitational.
THE GOLDEN GOPHER COACHING STAFF
Matt Bingle is in his sixth season as the Golden Gophers head women’s track & field coach. He was promoted to Director of Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country during the offseason. Bingle heads an extremely experienced coaching staff that includes assistants Gary Wilson (Distance) Lynne Anderson (Throwers), Sarah Hesser (Distance) and Caroline White(Pole Vault).
Gophers Win Third-Straight Dual Title
Minnesota won 82-80 over Wisconsin in the third-annual dual meet between the border rivals Saturday afternoon.
Gophers Dominate at St. Thomas Invite
Minnesota won all 12 events in which the team competed at the local meet Friday evening.
USATF Minnesota Honors Three Gophers
Three individuals with Gopher ties are among USATF Minnesota's 2016 award recipients.
