Salvatore Leads Gophers at MSU Open

 

Katie Salvatore placed in two events to pace the Minnesota women’s track & field team at the MSU Open in Mankato on Saturday. Salvatore placed second in the mile with a time of 5 minutes, 5.76 seconds, then added a fourth-place showing in the 1,000-meter run in 3:01.44.

The Golden Gophers had three athletes place in the 800-meter run. Heather Brunn finished second in a time of 2:15.37, followed by Tari Helmers in third in 2:17.11 and Megan Smith in fourth clocked at 2:17.59.

Danielle LeBreck contributed a second-place showing in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 3:00.06.  Jaci Edmonds (18:47.75) and Jenna Lewein (18:51.23) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run.
