The University of Minnesota was represented well in Track and Field News' 2012 compilation of U.S. and world rankings. Barbora Spotakova won her second Olympic gold for the Czech Republic, and a handful of former Gophers on the list competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Two Gopher relays from last spring also made the list.

800 meters: Heather (Dorniden) Kampf - 17th U.S., Gabriele Anderson - 27th U.S.
1500 meters: Gabriele Anderson - fourth U.S., 39th world
Steeplechase: Jamie Cheever - 13th U.S.
Half-Marathon: Emily Brown - 12th U.S.
Pole Vault: Samantha Sonnenberg - 12th U.S.
Javelin: Barbora Spotakova - first in the world (and won her second Olympic gold medal)
Heptathlon: Liz Roehrig - 23rd U.S.
4x100-meter relay: Todea-Kay Willis, Nyoka Giles, Chimerem Okoroji, Kylie Peterson - 34th U.S.
4x1500-meter relay: Katie Moraczewski, Molly Kayfes, Ashlie Decker, Laura Docherty - sixth U.S.

New Outdoor Track and Field Facility Approved
