Bollig led six Gophers in the 800m, finishing third in 2:16.28 in her 2014 outdoor 800m debut. Sophomores Andie Zeman and Stacey Swatek were on her heels, also running their first 800m races of the outdoor season, in 2:16.73 (fourth) and 2:16.98 (fifth), respectively. Redshirt freshman Kate Shelerud (2:18.39, seventh) and senior Leighton Lerum (2:22.88, 10th) rounded out the top 10. Sophomore Lisa Bailey (2:32.95) also raced.
Mikkalson and sophomore Jamie Piepenburg finished second and third in the 1,500m run. Mikkalson clocked a 4:41.82, and Piepenburg finished in 4:43.70. Seniors Jillian Johnson (4:50.50) and Jamie Vandenberg (4:50.80) came in ninth and 10th, respectively. Melissa Cabak (4:52.38, 11th), Chelsea Pettit (4:53.60, 12th), Megan Bailey (5:01.25, 16th) and Stephanie Solfelt (5:01.30, 17th) also competed for the Maroon and Gold.
The Gophers also raced in the 4x400-meter relay as Bollig, Zeman, Swatek and Johnson finished second in 4:02.67.
Redshirt freshman Autumn Miller was Minnesota's lone competitor in the field events. Miller finished seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 146-8 (44.71m).
Minnesota's full roster returns to competition next week, beginning with the Hamline Twilight on Wednesday afternoon. The Gophers are expected to split the squad at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational (Friday-Saturday), Drake Relays (Friday-Saturday) and the Macalester Invite (Saturday) next weekend.
Gophers Finish Fourth at B1G Meet
Madeline Strandemo won the mile to lead the Gophers to a fourth-place team finish at the 2017 B1G Indoor Championship.
