The Minnesota women’s track and field team wrapped up their first day at the ISU Classic. Action is taking place inside the Lied Recreation Center and no team score is being kept. The Gophers had a handful of high performances today and will finish up things tomorrow.
In the field events DeAnne Hahn finished second overall in the weight throw with a toss of 17.79m (58-4 ½). Jeri Johnson-Chambers also threw a 16.27 (53-4 ½) in the same event. Hahn also took fifth in the shot put with a mark of 14.30m (46-11).
Gophers Welcome Two New Staff Members
Director of operations Lyndsey Thorpe and athletic trainer Sarah Wambheim have joined the Gopher Athletics staff.
Spotakova Earns Olympic Bronze in Javelin
Gophers All-American Barbora Spotakova threw 64.80m in to place third in the javelin at the Rio Olympic Games.
Gophers to Visit Minnesota State Fair
Golden Gopher teams and coaches are scheduled to appear at the Minnesota State Fair Aug. 29-31.
