The University of Minnesota women’s track team started off the indoor season at the Bison Classic in Fargo, N.D.
The Gophers posted one-two finishes in two events. Becca Dyson (9:48.59) and Maggie Bollig (9:51.15) took the top two spots in the 3,000 meters. Kylie Peterson (5.02) and Todea-Kay Willis (5.10) finished first and second in the 40-yard dash.
“Overall, it was a good meet,” director of track and field and cross country Matt Bingle said. “We ran a lot of odd events today, but next week we’ll go full force. We need to have a good week in practice.”
The Gophers also kept some competitors home at the Minnesota Fieldhouse for the Northwest Open. Gopher event winners were Jessica Schmidt (3,000m), Becci Osterdyk (shot put) and Caitlyn Dongoske (weight throw).
The Gophers will host the Jack Johnson Classic at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse Jan. 18-19.
