Senior Alena Brooks leads the Gophers to a fourth-place B1G team finish
Career Highlights: A 2010 NCAA indoor pole vault All-American a 2008 and 2009 NCAA Midwest Region Championships competitor in the pole vault 2009 and 2010 All-Big Ten Second Team ranks second indoor (14-1 1/4) and outdoor (13-6 1/4) on the Gophers' pole vault top-10 lists.
2010 Season - Indoor: All-American placed seventh at the NCAA Championships with a career-best height of 14-1 1/4, the second-best leap in school history All-Big Ten Second Team conference runner-up with a height of 13-9 1/4 improved on her career best five times during the season. Outdoor: NCAA West Prelim competitor placed fifth at the Big Ten Championships (12-9 1/2) won the Sun Angel Classic with career outdoor best of 13-6 1/4 height ranks second in Gopher history Drake Relays runner-up earned third varsity letter.
2009 Season - Indoor: All-Big Ten Second Team vaulted to runner-up honors with a career-best leap of 13-4 1/4 (4.07m) an NCAA provisional qualifier vaulted in eight meets. Outdoor: An NCAA Midwest Region Championships participant placed fifth in the Big Ten Championships (12-11 1/2) cleared a career-best of 13-1 1/2, fourth in Gopher history, at the Hamline Twilight Meet earned second varsity letter.
2008 Season - Indoor: placed second in the pole vault at the Big Ten Championships (13-4 1/4) and Iowa State Qualifier (13-1 1/2), provisional NCAA qualifier placed second at the Northwest Open placed third at the Jack Johnson Classic. Outdoor: placed second at the Hamline Twilight (13-1 1/2), Tiger Classic (12-7 1/2), and Bulls Inv. (tied 12-7 1/2), NCAA Regional qualifier placed second at the Hamline Unsaintly NCAA regional qualifier at the Big Ten Championships with a fifth place vault of 12-11 1/2 and at the Minnesota Open with a third place vault of 12-7 1/2 placed eleventh at the NCAA Midwest Region.
High School: A 2006 graduate of Waukesha South High School high school coach was Eric Lehmann 2005 Wisconsin Division I third-place finisher in pole vault cleared a personal-best of 12-6 in winning 2006 Classic 8 Conference indoor title four-year letterwinner.
Personal: Born Feb. 10, 1988 undecided on a major daughter of William and Barbra Sonnenberg father played football at Wisconsin competed in gymnastics for 14 years has older siblings, Scott and Erica enjoys dance and choir.
