Ten women's track & field and cross country representatives are among Minnesota's 72 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award recipients
Nine Golden Gophers maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average during the 2014-15 academic year.

2015 Season - Indoor: Named team captain • did not compete indoors.
2015 Season - Outdoor: Competed in the javelin at eight meets • recorded a career-best throw of 47.39m (155-6) to place third at the Big Ten Championship • finished as runner-up at the Musco Twilight with a throw of 46.68m (153-02) • qualified for the NCAA West Prelim and finished 17th with a throw of 45.82m (150-04) • won the javelin at the Jaguar Challenge and the Tommie Twilight • USTFCCCA All-Academic team honoree, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
2014 Season - Indoor: Named team captain • did not compete during the indoor season.
2014 Season - Outdoor: Competed solely in the javelin at five meets • placed ninth with a throw of 137-08 (41.96m) at the Big Ten Championships • recorded a season-best throw of 146-06 (44.66m) for third place at TSU Relays • Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
2013 Season - Indoor: Cleared a season-best 5-2.25 (1.58m) in the high jump at the Parents Day Open, finishing sixth • high jumped at the Jack Johnson Classic and MSU Open.
2013 Season - Outdoor: Did not compete during the outdoor season • Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
2012 Season - Indoor: High jumped a season-best 5-05 (1.65m) to tie for first at the MSU Open • placed second at the Parents Day Open (5-03.25) • took fourth at the Holiday Inn Invitational with 5-03 (1.60m).
2012 Season - Outdoor: Won the high jump at the Hamline Invite • cleared a season best of 5-05 (1.65m) at the Bulldog Invitational • Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
2011 Season: Redshirted both the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.
High School: A 2010 graduate of Iola-Scandinavia High School • high school coach was Bruce Beyersdorf • three-time Wisconsin Division 3 state high jump champion (2007, 2009 and 2010) • tied the Wisconsin Division 3 record with a jump of 5-9 at the 2009 state meet • won the 2010 title with a leap of 5-7 • also a state competitor in long jump in 2009 and 2010 • three-time Central Wisconsin Conference high jump champion • cross country team MVP twice • cross country captain as a senior • also lettered in basketball and as a statistician in football • WIAA Scholar Athlete • valedictorian of her high school class • National Honor Society member • math league member.
Personal: Born October 8, 1991 • majoring in kinesiology • daughter of John and Susie Melum • has older brothers Tyler and Bradley • brother Bradley played football at Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2006-07 • enjoys being with friends and family, playing with her dogs, biking, canoeing, and adventures.
