Several University of Minnesota men’s and women’s tennis players are listed in the preseason Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Region rankings. The men’s program owns four ranked singles players, while the women’s team owns three ranked singles players and one doubles duo.
Leading the men’s rankings for the Golden Gophers is senior D.J. Geatz at No. 16, followed by senior Nich Edlefsen at No. 23, junior Raoul Schwark at No. 24 and senior Andres Osorio at No. 29.
Leading the women’s rankings for Minnesota is senior Ashley Schellhas at No. 25, followed by freshman Tijana Koprivica at No. 27 and senior Ida Malmberg at No. 30. In the doubles rankings, the Golden Gopher duo of Koprivica and Schellhas are listed at No. 13.
Both the men’s and women’s teams open the 2007 dual season on Jan. 27. The men’s squad heads to Colorado to face Denver on Jan. 27 and Air Force on Jan. 28, The women’s team hosts the Minnesota Court Classic, facing Western Michigan on Jan. 27, and either South Alabama or Wake Forest on Jan. 28 at the Baseline Tennis Center.
