The University of Minnesota women’s wrestling team is schedule to send down eight of the 11 players on the roster to the Big Green Invitational in Hanover, N.H.
The Big Green Invitational will host eight singles flights throughout the three day event along with four doubles flights. It will be a round robin format for both singles and doubles. For doubles, there will be one set played with no ad scoring and tiebreakers at 6-6. For singles, it will be two out of three sets with no ad scoring, with tiebreakers at 6-6. Singles will play a full third set unless otherwise advised.
Events are scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. with Minnesota taking on University of Massachusetts in doubles and singles play on Friday. The Gophers will play against Dartmouth on Saturday, and then Yale on Sunday.
The Gophers will send Caroline Ryba, Mehvish Safdar Annemarie Emme, Camila Vargas Gomez, Caitlyn Merzbacher, Tina Kreinis, Cammy Frei and River Hart out to the east coast.
Minnesota took on Dartmouth last season and fell in a close affair 4-3 at Baseline Tennis Center during the Courtside Classic. Ryba and Vargas each picked up victories last season in singles. Ryba defeated No. 124 Taylor Ng in straight sets for the biggest victory of the competition.
The Gophers picked up two of the three doubles victories, earning them the doubles point in the dual including Ryba/Frei and Emme/Vargas.
