semifiThe University of Minnesota women's tennis doubles duo of Angela Buergis and Nischela Reddy went 1-1 Saturday at the 2003 ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich., falling in the semifinals to the tournament's top seed.
Buergis and Reddy, the fourth-seeded doubles team, defeated Western Michigan's Girsang/Stoilova, 8-5, in the quarterfinals before losing 8-3 to No. 1 seed Grier/Rush of Northwestern. The Wildcat duo takes on No. 3 seed Goulet/McGaffigan of Illinois today at 9 a.m.
Western Michigan University is hosting the 2003 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Championships on Oct. 23-28, one of eight regional tournaments to take place in late October. The event welcomes nearly 200 student-athletes. The championship doubles match is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27 while the singles final occurs at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The regional champions provide the field for the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Nov. 6-9, hosted by the University of Michigan.
