Angela Buergis and Nischela Reddy won two matches today at the 2003 ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Golden Gophers advanced to the round of 16 in doubles action.
Buergis and Reddy opened play with a 8-1 rout of Kirkland/McDowell of Dayton in the first round. The Golden Gophers then dispatched of Cueva/Paravinci, 8-5, in the round of 32. The fourth-seeded UM duo takes on Michigan's Delicota/Tipimeni tomorrow.
Western Michigan University is hosting the 2003 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Championships on Oct. 23-28, one of eight regional tournaments to take place in late October. The event welcomes nearly 200 student-athletes. The championship doubles match is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27 while the singles final occurs at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The regional champions provide the field for the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Nov. 6-9, hosted by the University of Michigan.
