While the men host their ITA Regional Tournament at Baseline Tennis Center this weekend, the women’s tennis team will travel to Tulsa, Okla. to take part in their ITA Central Region competition.
Arkansas State, Arkansas, Central Arkansas, Drake, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Saint Louis, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, Tulsa, and Wichita State make up the 18 teams that are also vying for success in the tournament.
Four of the Gopher women received automatic bids into the singles main draw while four others head to Tulsa early to petition for their spots in the qualifying rounds. Four doubles teams will also be competing in the main draw.
Julia Courter, Jessika Mozia, Aria Lambert, and Pauline Gilbert will begin their quests on Oct. 18 as part of the qualifying rounds. Paula Rincon-Otero, Yuliana Umanets, Natallia Pintusva, and Tereza Brichacova will join the team later in the week for the main draws.
The first round of the qualifying draw will begin tomorrow at 9:30 a.m., and the second round matches will take place an hour after the first round is done.
Gophers Named to ITA All-Academic Team
The University of Minnesota women’s tennis team was named a 2016 Intercollegiate Association (ITA) All-Academic team.

The University of Minnesota had a combination of 17 former and current Gopher student-athletes who competed at the 21st Aquatennial Tennis Classic this past week.
