Nischela Reddy and Marina Bugaenco lost their semifinal matches today on the second day of the UNLV Women's Tennis Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev. In consolation play, Minnesota went 4-1 in singles matches and 0-4 in doubles action.

The UNLV Invitational includes LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Minnesota, Hawaii and UNLV. The three-round tournament features six singles flights and six doubles flights.

In the semifinals of singles flight one, Reddy fell to Elena Gantcheva of UNLV, 6-3, 6-4. With the loss, Reddy moved her record to 4-2 on the season. In the flight four semifinals, Bugaenco, a freshman from Moldova, saw her record fall to 4-2 with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Kana Aikawa of Hawaii.

In singles consolation action, sophomores Ida Malmberg and Lindsay Risebrough each picked up straight-set wins in flight two. In flight three, freshman Jane Anderson rebounded from her first loss as a Golden Gopher with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Chloe Bihag of Hawaii. In flight four, freshman Danielle Mousseau downed Hawaii's Kana Aikawa, 6-2, 6-3.

Minnesota failed to pick up a win in consolation doubles matches, going 0-4. As a team this season, the Golden Gophers are 8-12 in doubles matches.
