aThe University of Minnesota Women's Tennis Team finished the second day of the William & Mary Invitational. The tournament concludes on Sunday and features 16 teams.

Only two Golden Gophers were able to earn singles wins in the second day of competition. Junior Angela Buergis defeated Boston College's Nida Waseen in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 in a third round consolation match. Buergis will face Chrissie Nolan of Michigan for the consolation championship on Sunday. The other singles win came from newcomer Nischela Reddy with a three set win over Marshall's Lillie Nzudie. Reddy's next opponent is Eva Choe of Illinois.

The Golden Gophers faired better in doubles competition with three of the four teams defeating their first opponents of the day. The duo of Michaela Havelkova and Valerie Vladea defeated Bagnato/Cox of Richmond in their second round consolation match and later defeated Applebaum/Toro of Miami 8-6 to bring them to the consolation championship match on Sunday. Angela Buergis and Jeannette Cluskey won their second round consolation match, yet were defeated 5-8 in the second round by top seed Causevic/Marker of Maryland.

In other doubles competition, the pairing of Nischela Reddy and Brandi Watts went on a tear defeating Boston College's duo of Ashley/Hellberg 8-5 and Maryland's Chavardes/Dent 8-5 to place them in the consolation championship match. They will face host William & Mary's Kamp/Yang on Sunday. While Cici Anderson and Kandis Batiste were defeated in both their doubles matches.
