The University of Minnesota women's tennis team took home three titles - one singles and two doubles - today at the Second Annual Gopher Invitational at the Baseline Tennis Center. The season-opening Gopher Invitational included three singles flights (named Timberwolves, Vikings and Twins) and two doubles flights (named Wild and Lynx). Freshman Jane Anderson won the Vikings title, while the doubles teams of Nischela Reddy/ Lindsay Risebrough and Jane Anderson/Marina Bugaenco won the Wild and Lynx finals, respectively.

For the day, Golden Gopher singles players went 5-3, while Minnesota doubles teams went 3-2.

Anderson crsuied to her title in the Vikings flight without losing a set. She prevailed in the championship match with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Chrissy Derouin of Iowa State. Overall, Anderson lost only 10 games in four matches. In the consolation final of the Vikings flight, freshman Marina Bugaenco downed Lyndsey Palen of Gustavus Adolphus, 6 -2, 6-3.

Junior Nischela Reddy suffered her first loss of the season, falling in three sets to Zorana Stefanovic of Drake, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2, in the final of the Timberwolves flight. In consolation play, sophomore Lindsay Risebrough dropped fellow Edina resident Jamie Gaard of Gustavus, 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Danielle Mousseau won her first match as a Golden Gopher, defeating Lauren Hom of Gustavus, 6-2, 7-5.

In the Twins flight, sophomore Megan Steiger lost in the final to Gustavus' Jenny Arnfelt, 6-3, 6-1. In consolation play, Shelby Rohrer downed teammate Jenna Tellefsen, 7-5, 6-3.

Reddy and Risebrough cruised to the doubles title in the Wild flight, overwhelming Stefanovic and Allison Wilkie of Drake, 8-2. In the Lynx flight final, Anderson and Marina Bugaenco picked up the win with an 8-5 triumph over Charlotte Ljungkrantz and Derouin of Iowa State.

The Golden Gophers the fall season next weekend at the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev.
