Tijana Koprivica led Minnesota to a 7-3 record in singles and a 14-6 overall match record on the second day of action Saturday at the Baseline Tennis Center. Koprivica’s day was highlighted by her 6-1, 6-4 upset victory of Eastern Michigan’s Vanessa Frankowski in the semifinals of the Maroon Singles Flight. The sophomore from Serbia and Montenegro will face fellow teammate Ale Ferrazzi, a freshman from Brescia, Italy in the final of the Maroon Flight singles bracket tomorrow morning. Koprivica also split a pair of doubles matches with teammate Lindsay Risebrough earlier in the day.

Ferrazzi and her doubles partner, Karina Chiarelli, advanced to the finals of the North Flight with an 8-1 quarterfinal win over UNI’s Meghana Paritala and Taynara Moraes and a 8-3 semifinal triumph over the Iowa State squad of Reka Kelemen and Chrissy Derouin. The pair will face Eastern Michigan’s Frankowski and Aleksandra Stankovic who edged Koprivica and Risebrough 9-8 in the other semifinal matchup.

Other Gophers advancing include Chiarelli, who plays in the Gold Flight final after upending Moraus in the semifinal 6-2, 6-4, and junior Mariana Spilca who will play in the Gold Flight’s consolation final who beat EMU’s Emma Czarnecki 6-3, 6-1.
