University of Minnesota women’s tennis player Danielle Mousseau (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) has earned Midwest Region’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)/Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship, as announced today by the ITA. Mousseau, a junior, was named Minnesota’s 2007 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree last month.
The Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship goes to a women’s player who displays inspiring dedication and commitment to her team, which has enhanced her team’s performance and exemplified the spirit of college tennis. National winners will be announced on May 22 in Athens, Ga. Regional award winners are finalists for the national awards.
This past season, Mousseau compiled a 17-16 overall record, a 10-10 dual mark and a 3-5 record in Big Ten play. She finished the year third on the team with 17 overall wins and was undefeated in the dual season at 10-0 when winning the first set. In doubles play, Mousseau posted a 15-14 overall doubles record, a 7-10 dual mark and a 2-6 Big Ten record.
