The Golden Gophers (11-10, 4-6 Big Ten) are the No. 7 seed for this weekend’s 2007 Big Ten Championship at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. Minnesota will face No. 10 seed Illinois (5-16, 1-9) on Thursday, April 26 at 3 p.m., in the first round. Minnesota defeated the Fighting Illini 5-2 in last Sunday’s regular season finale at the Baseline Tennis Center. With a win over Illinois on Thursday, the Maroon and Gold would advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 2 seed Indiana (19-5, 9-1) on Friday, April 27 at 2 p.m.
The top five seeds in the Big Ten Championships receive byes to the quarterfinal round. This week, Minnesota is hosting the Big Ten Championship for the first time since 1984 and for the first time ever at the Baseline Tennis Center.
