The bracket for the 2007 Big Ten Women's Tennis Championship was released today by the conference office following the conclusion of the regular season. The conference tournament takes place Thursday-Sunday, April 26-29 at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

The host Golden Gophers (11-10, 4-6 Big Ten) earned the No. 7 seed for the tournament and will take on No. 10 seed Illinois at 3 p.m., on Thursday. The winner of that match advances to the quarterfinals to face No. 2 seed Indiana. Admission is free to the 2007 Big Ten Championship.

Today at the Baseline Tennis Center, Minnesota wrapped up the 2007 regular season with a 5-2 win over the Fighting Illini (5-16, 1-9). The Golden Gophers went 1-2 in doubles before rallying in singles play with a 5-1 mark to post their best conference record at 4-6 since capturing the 2003 Big Ten regular season title with a 9-1 mark. Minnesota's 11 wins also mark the most in a season since the 2003 team went 18-7.

With two wins last weekend against conference foes, the seventh-ranked Northwestern women's tennis team clinched at least a share of the Big Ten regular season title. However, today's 7-0 victory over Michigan State pushed the Wildcats to a perfect 10-0 conference record to claim the regular season title outright. Northwestern will be the top seed for the 2007 Big Ten Championship and will be bidding for its ninth consecutive conference crown.
