Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Minnesota women's tennis team concludes their regular season play against Big Ten opponents Maryland and Rutgers this weekend. The matches will take place at 2 p.m. CT on April 21 and 10 a.m. CT on April 23.
The Golden Gophers are 4-4 in conference play and 12-10 overall, coming off a dual victory weekend over Purdue and Indiana. Seven Gophers garnered singles wins, three of whom had wins on both days.
Tina Kreinis now leads Minnesota with 13 victories in singles dual match play, nine of these wins coming from the No. 2 position. Kreinis leads the team with six conference wins.
Camila Vargas Gomez sits at a 20-11 record, slating 12-7 in dual match play. Her record at the No. 6 spot is 8-4, while she’s also recorded one win apiece at both the No. 3 and No. 5 spots.
Carolne Ryba shares a 10-7 record with Vargas Gomez, all from the No. 1 spot.
Doubles play is led by the tandem of Caroline Ryba and Cammy Frei with a dual record of 10-8, followed by the duo of Vargas Gomez and Annemarie Emme slating a 9-6 record.
Following these matches, Gophers will begin preparing for Big Ten Tournament in Champaign, Ill. The tournament will begin on April 27.

The Terrapins are 4-4 in Big Ten play, slating 13-5 overall. Kristina Hovsepyan and Alexandra Stanova lead Maryland with 11 singles wins apiece. Hovsepyan is on a three-match win streak. The duo of Hovsepyan and Stanova also lead doubles play with 11 wins from the No. 1 spot, including five conference wins.
The Scarlet Knights have tallied one conference win and are 7-12 overall. Farris Cunningham leads the team with 10 singles victories, all from the sixth spot. She is currently on a two-match win streak and is 7-3 in her last ten match-ups. Cunningham and doubles partner Jacqueline Cochrane have 11 doubles wins, only four of which being conference wins.
